i used to grow brussel sprouts. unless you go out to the garden, pick enough to cook, walk back into the kitchen, put them in a steamer and place them on your plate sweet and delicious within minutes after picking they start to get bitter. sad but true. even at the farmers market by the time you get them home they are not worth eating. you can use every method and spice there is, but they just will not be that fresh picked sweet.
